Buddhist Events at GBC


Open Afternoon Thursday 8th March (2.00-3.30pm)
Film: The life of the Buddha from the time of his enlightenment/awakening. Suitable for beginners. The film runs for approximately one hour and will be followed by discussion and tea. All Welcome.

Hall Clean-up: Saturday 10th March (2.00-4.00pm)
If you would like to lend a hand (with even just a little job) it would be very much appreciated. Just pop in whenever convenient to you during the clean-up time and you will receive a warm welcome.

Silent Meditation Day: Sunday 25th March (10.30am-4.30pm)
A day of sitting and walking meditation. Please arrive before the doors close a 10.30am. Participants are asked to commit to the full day (alternate 35 minute sittings with 10-minutes slow walking). Individual instruction for beginners can be given on request. Please bring vegetarian lunch to share. Light refreshments will be provided.


A New 5-Week course with Colin Moore starts on Monday 26th February, 7.30-9.00pm (ending on Monday 26th March)
Recognising the Deathless: The teachings of the Buddha regarding the unborn and the unconditioned. Each session will be about 90 minutes long with meditation and time for discussion. Participants will be expected to make a commitment to study and practice between the weekly sessions. Suggested donation for the 5-week course: £25 (£15), but no one will be excluded on the basis of lack of funds. Beyond Mindfulness with Mahesi Caplan Saturday 7th April, 5th May, and 2nd June, 2.00-4.00pm
A series of three consecutive classes covering a mixture of teaching, discussion, short periods of practice and tea breaks that will give us the chance to meet each other. Those wishing to attend must do so from the opening talk. The first class will be a discussion of some of the more general questions people have; the second class we will be reviewing some of the core teachings of the tradition; and the third class will be covering the maps that can help us navigate through the territory of the awakening process. Suggested donation £5.

Library:
Feel free to use the Golden Buddha Centre library during the following opening times. If you would like to borrow books, please enquire about membership. This is a unique and well-stocked library in its early stages of development.
