Dharma Read: Awareness

Awareness, when fully developed, is a powerful antidote to delusion. It allows us to step back and observe the workings of the mind with a kind of spaciousness and objectivity. With awareness, we begin to see the ways in which the mind distorts reality, how it clings to fleeting sensations and constructs a false sense of self around them. We see how emotions arise and pass, how thoughts come and go, and how nothing in the mind has the permanence that delusion would have us believe.
