How Can We Know If Something is True?
A Dhamma talk by Bhante Bodhidhamma:
Sunday 13th May (3.00-5.00pm)
Bhante will today lead a short meditation followed by a dhamma talk, a question and answer session, and tea.
In 1986 Bhante Bodhidhamma was ordained into the Theravada tradition at the Birmingham Vihara. At the same time, he was particularly drawn to the style of meditation as taught by the Mahasi Sayadaw of Burma, but found it difficult to stay for long in Burma because of the political situation. After travelling extensively and staying in monasteries and centres around the world, Bhante finally found an order of monks in Sri Lanka devoted to the Mahasi Sayadaw method of meditation. He became a member of that order. Returning to England in 1998 he was asked to teach and did so in various places, finally becoming the resident teacher at Gaia House where he led intensive eight week Mahasi courses. Then in 2007 Bhante founded the Satipanya Buddhist Centre in Wales which is devoted to the Mahasi Tradition, and it is there that he is now based for much of the year.
